The Kountze Fire Department was started in 1948 about the time the City of Kountze was organized. A group of businessmen and other members of the community came together, raised the funds, purchased and built trucks, built a station and set about responding to fires and other community emergencies. Established in 1994, HARDIN COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES DISTRICT #1 was created to provide funding and growth to the efforts being made to grow the equipment and training available for the members of the Kountze Fire Department to provide services to the residents, carrying on a tradition of serving our community for over 75 years. Our department has grown to include three (3) stations, (with 2 more coming soon), a fleet of modern fire trucks, and highly trained firefighters and Emergency Responders.
